Head, Department of Medical Genetics, Faculty of Medicine and Department Head, Medical Genetics, BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia together with Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) invite applications for the position of Head, Department of Medical Genetics in the Faculty of Medicine and Department Head, Medical Genetics at BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre.  This appointment is for a five (5) year term with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory review and is expected to be filled by a candidate internal to the Faculty. The anticipated start date is October 1, 2017 or upon a date to be mutually agreed.

The Department of Medical Genetics is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in basic and clinical research for diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of genetic disease. A great strength of the Department derives from the close integration of research, education, and clinical service conducted by its members at various campuses, affiliated hospitals, and research institutes.

The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) plans, manages and evaluates selected specialty and province-wide health care services across BC, working with the five geographic health authorities to deliver province-wide solutions that improve the health of British Columbians. QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should hold a PhD and/or MD degree with eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C. and fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The incumbent should have a proven track record in senior clinical, academic and administrative leadership roles, demonstrated success in supporting the career development of faculty members, demonstrated excellence in teaching and commitment to undergraduate, graduate and post graduate medical education, and a proven record of scholarly excellence in research at an international level.
