Dr. Jehannine Austin has been selected as the next Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Genetic Counseling effective January 1, 2024.

Please Welcome the New Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Genetic Counseling  

After six years as Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Christina Palmer is stepping down from her role as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Genetic Counseling on December 31, 2023.

Christina’s leadership achieved significant gains in the impact and visibility of the journal in North America and internationally and advanced the publication of research addressing all aspects of the discipline and practice of genetic counseling. We are deeply grateful Christina for her tremendous service, which will undoubtedly benefit our research community for years to come, and we wish her much continued success in her future endeavors.  

It is gives us great pleasure to announce that Dr. Jehannine Austin has been selected as the next Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Genetic Counseling and will take over from Christina effective January 1, 2024.  

Jehannine is Professor in both the Departments of Psychiatry and Medical Genetics, and Graduate Advisor in the Genetic Counselling Training Program at the University of British Columbia. Jehannine’s research interests include the genetics of psychiatric disorders and the development of interventions to improve outcomes for individuals with psychiatric disorders.  

Jehannine is currently serving as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Genetic Counseling, positioning them well for a smooth transition into the Editor-in-Chief role. We are confident that Jehannine will lead the Journal of Genetic Counseling forward with imagination, innovation, and rigor.   NSGC is excited for Jehannine to continue their success and we are confident that the preeminent journal of our profession will continue to thrive under their leadership.
