As part of the Faculty of Medicine’s back-to-school series, we sat down with one of our MSc Genetic Counselling students Sarah Predham to talk about her interest in pursuing a career in genetic counselling, what excites her about the upcoming year and where she sees herself in five years from now.

What sparked your interest in pursuing a career in genetic counselling?

Being able to help patients understand and cope with genetic diagnoses, being able to learn something new every day, and being able to make a difference.

What excites you the most about the coming year?

Getting more clinical experience and seeing my progress as a counselor, as well as continuing my directed studies project.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Working in the Medical Genetics clinic in St. John’s with outreach to Labrador
