Join us for Research Day on November 21!

Research Day is an annual event held by the Department of Medical Genetics at UBC’s Life Sciences Centre. It brings together more than a hundred junior and senior scientists, genetic counsellors, and post-doctoral fellows from various labs across Vancouver to present research, exchange ideas, and establish collaborations.

This year’s guest speakers are Dr. Ryan Morin and Dr. Jennifer Gardy.

Dr. Morin is an Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Simon Fraser University. His research focuses on a combination of high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics to study the genetic architecture of cancer and other heritable and sporatic genetic diseases, ultimately aiming to discover new mutations that may lead to improved methods for both diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Gardy is a Senior Scientist at the BC Centre for Disease Control. Her work combines whole genome sequencing with epidemiological techniques to understand the origins, evolution, and transmission dynamics of tuberculosis and influenza. She is also involved in a number of science-communication media projects including CBC’s documentary series The Nature of Things.

Poster registration is now closed, but please view this spreadsheet for an overview of poster presentations.

Escape the rain and join us on November 21 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM in the West Atrium of the Life Sciences Centre. All are welcome!
