Kiara Lowes

Class of 2022

I grew up in Delta, British Columbia. In 2017, I graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. I discovered genetic counselling near the end of my undergraduate degree. Over the next three years, I volunteered as a crisis counsellor for Chimo Crisis Line. I also had the opportunity to work with the Adapt Clinic and the Translational Psychiatric Genetics Group as a research volunteer. Since starting the UBC Genetic Counselling program, I have developed a passion for hereditary cancer and assisted reproductive technology. Additionally, one of my favourite parts of this program has been completing my directed studies project. Outside of school, I enjoy crafting with my Cricut, doing puzzles and working my part time job at Smash + Tess.
