Location: Centre of Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Type: Postdoctoral

A postdoctoral scholar position is available immediately for a highly motivated recent PhD graduate to join the laboratory of Dr. Michael S. Kobor at the Centre of Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics, Department of Medical Genetics, University of British Columbia (UBC). The laboratory is broadly interested in understanding the causes and consequences of variation in epigenetic marks across human populations.  Specific research projects take advantage of numerous interdisciplinary collaborations and population cohorts focused on the genomic embedding of early-life experiences in relationship to development and health across the lifespan.  Ongoing efforts involve the acquisition of high-dimension datasets for DNA methylation and mRNA expression and their integrative analysis with phenotype and environmental exposures.

The ideal applicant will possess a curiosity and passion for science and a talent for independent research, which should be supported by a strong publication record with at least 2 first author publications in respected journals. Extensive knowledge of statistical genomics and bioinformatics is required, and experience with epigenetics and gene regulation is desired. While this position is grant-funded, the successful applicant will be expected to apply for his or her own external funding.

UBC has a strong and collaborative research community and is situated in the beautiful city of Vancouver, where many outdoor recreational opportunities are available.

Exceptional candidates should submit a cover letter outlining your research interests and fit with the laboratory’s research, curriculum vitae, and the names of three referees willing to provide letters of reference. Please send all applications electronically to tanya@cmmt.ubc.ca.

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.

Due to the number of resumes we receive, we are unable to confirm receipt of submissions over the phone, or provide the status of the competition except to those who are selected for an interview.
